Reader: CTRL key to open a PDF in a separate window

  • The CTRL key can now be used to open a PDF file in a separate window instead of in a new tab. You must hold down the CTRL key and then double-click on a PDF. Previously, you could only do this via the context menu of the tab.

Reader: New option to open a PDF in a tab or in a separate window

  • The reader.openInExistingInstance option can be used to open PDFs as a tab in an existing instance or in a separate window. The default value is "true", which means that a PDF is opened in a tab of an existing instance. This option can be set via the settings area.

OCR: Profile was not applied

  • Due to an internal name change, profiles were no longer applied. This problem has been fixed.

OCR: Clearing the internal cache improved

  • When changing certain properties after an OCR process, the internal cache must be emptied for the new settings to be applied. There have been improvements here.

OCR: Skip the optimization process in the 9.x version

  • The optimization process is not available in the 9.x version, as the corresponding components are not available. Therefore, the corresponding function is no longer executed, which previously did not work.

OCR: Some parameters deactivated in 9.x

  • In the 9.x version, some parameters cannot be used as the corresponding components are not available. So that the user can now see this, the corresponding parameters have been grayed out. Previously it was possible to use them, but they had no effect.

Toolbox: Electronic invoice generator extended

  • The fields BT-3, BT-28, BT-29, BT-30, BT-45, BT-46, BT-47 have been added to the electronic invoice generator (XRechnung, ZUGFeRD). Modal dialogs are now also centered on the screen. Individual items in the invoice can now also be saved and reloaded.

Toolbox: Quick determination of installed fonts

  • Some functions in the toolbox query the installed fonts. The function that determines the fonts has been changed. The new version is now significantly faster. This means that the initial loading of certain tools is hardly delayed any more.

Creator: Drag and drop improvements

  • Some applications query the content of the drag and drop operation (usually files) while moving the mouse pointer over the target window. This can lead to a deadlock, as PDF24 opens the profile selection, which is then used to generate the file. We have changed this behavior. If the file is requested during the drag and drop process, the profile selection is skipped and the file is simply assembled. If the file is requested after the drop event, we can display the profile selection and use it to create the final file.
  • There has also been another improvement to the drag and drop implementation. A user had reported that email attachments from a certain email application could not be dragged into the Creator. We have analyzed this and the problem has been fixed.

Toolbox: MSI Installer did not register the preview image handler correctly

  • The MSI package did not add a certain Windows registry element that is required for the thumbnail handler to work. As a result, the thumbnails for PDF files were not displayed. The EXE Installer did not have this problem. The problem has been fixed.

Toolbox: Missing text in DLL Explorer context menu handler

  • The text for searching for an update was no longer visible in the context menu. This problem has also been fixed.
